Jack has been involved with the fire service since 1977 when he joined Spokane County Fire District No. 4 as a volunteer. He volunteered as a fire fighter and station chief. In 1982 he was elected to the Board of Commissioners for Fire District 4 and soon became involved with the Washington Fire Commissioners Association at the state level. In 2007, Jack retired as a firefighter and now volunteers in a non-combat role. Jack was appointed to the WFCA Health Care Committee in 1993 and has served as chairman of the Health Care Committee since 2003. In October of 2013, he was elected to the WFCA Board of Directors.
Jack and his wife Lois have been married for 49 years. They have two children, nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Jack is retired from the phone company and enjoys fishing, hunting and working the family farm that has been in his family since 1910.
