James E. Farrell, Committee Member

Jim was first elected Fire Commissioner in King County Fire District No. 44 in 2002. He was appointed to the WFCA Health Care Committee in 2006. He has served on the Health Care Committee ever since and was elected President of the Washington Fire Commissioners Association in 2013. From 2011 through 2013 he was Vice President of the Association. During this time, Jim also served on the Central Region EMS and Trauma Care Council and was Vice President of the King County Fire Commissioners Association. 

Jim was a junior high school and senior high school teacher from 1965 to 1997. During that time he established and coached both boys and girls swimming and water polo programs for the Auburn School District.  He was also a teacher and coach at Eastside Catholic High School from 1997 to 2000.

From 2002 to 2005, Jim was an adjunct professor of economics at Seattle Pacific University and he also served as Director of Education, Junior Achievement Washington. During his tenure as a teacher in the Auburn School District, Jim served as President of the Auburn Education Association as well as the President of the Washington State Swim Coaches Association.

Jim served on the Board of Trustees Group Health Cooperative of Puget Sound from 1979 to 1997 and from 1986 to 1989 was a member of the Board of Trustees Group Health Association of America located in Washington D.C. He also served on the Board of Trustees Wesley Homes Retirement Center from 1987to 1996 and has been the President of the Highland Meadows Homeowners Association.

As a member of the Auburn First United Methodist Church, Jim has been a member and Chair of the Church Council.
